NANCY WRIDE

and introduces

LEAH WONG

In our new show, we are delighted to present two talented young artists, both members of the faculty at CCAD. These women contradict the “nothing new in the art world” mindset, using their intellect and talent to create original and dynamic work.

This will be Nancy Wride’s fourth exhibition at Gallery V. Nancy continues her fascinating exploration of color and light, photographing light “as it is transduced through various colors”. Collectors have found her luminous and fascinating works appealing on many different levels: spirituality, science, technology, formal mastery, and finally, sheer unadulterated beauty.

Leah Wong’s collage/paintings derive from her background as a child in China where traditional Chinese paper cuts were endemic. Her playful imaginary scenes begin as she cuts out creatures both realistic and abstract from a myriad of colorful paper and attaches them to her studio walls. Over time, they inspire her compositions based on multiple sources from Chinese and Western artistic traditions and folklore. Integrating Eastern and Western cultures, her work is complex yet controlled, new and nuanced, and fresh and fun.

Enjoy!
